NEWS: New songs

This week I've been working on new songs with Torre Florim (De Staat), Tjeerd Bomhof (Voisct), Tony, Lucas & Bobby (Tinmen and the Telephone), Leine, Stef van Es and Reyn Ouwehand. There are so many talented Dutch musicians/songwriters and I love working with them!

DIARY: Sallie Harmsen

It's 2005 I'm in the final year of Filmschool, I've written a screenplay for a short movie called 'Samson' and I'm looking for an actress.

I remember seeing a cute movie on tv called 'Snacken' (by David Lammers) with Sallie Harmsen in it and I thought that's the one! But I didn't know how to contact her.

The next day I see her in the supermarket!!! Of course I ask immediately if she want to act in my movie and she did.

She's now one of the upcoming actresses and I believe she will make it big time!

Also be aware of the other actor: Roemer Prins (in the movie he's 7) he's the one I wrote the script for, a natural talent!!

DIARY: Jefferson Airplane

Last monday I sang two Jefferson Airplane songs: 'White Rabbit' and 'Somebody to love'

on the presentation of Leo Blokhuis' new book 'City to City'.

It was really nice to see many different artists sing songs of artists through the 20th century!.

NEWS: Kleine Komedie

On 29,30 sept & 1,2,3 oct there will be a great little revue in De Kleine Komedie, Amsterdam's most lovely theatre.

A few singers will sing songs from singers who inspired them!

I'll sing three songs and it was such a damn hard decision, that I'm still thinking what could have been a better choice.

NEWS: South Africa in a nutshell

Ofcourse you can't fit South Africa in a nutshell! And this trip has been too short to see

enough of this wonderful country, but I'll give you some highlights!

* The Workshop I did with the band at the Moses Mololekwa Arts foundation in the Township Tembisa, Johannesburg.

The children were all so talented, especially 16 year old sax player Siabonga. He learned how to play from a book from the library and by listening to jazz musicians. He's absolutely amazing!

* Performing at the "Joy of Jazz festival" in Johannesburg with Siabonga as our special guest.

* Performing at the Voorkamerfest in Darling in the livingroom of June and Francois on their beautiful farm with the million animals including a baby pig called Edward.

On the video (above) you see him walking through the living room.

* Performing in the township in Darling with a.o. Leine, Oleg Fateev and Fay Lovski!

* The Wildlife, the Food, the people and of course de Tafelberg in Cape Town!

NEWS: Joy of Jazz special guest

It's not confirmed yet but I'd love to announce that a 16 year old saxophone talent, Siyabonga Goqo from Soweto (South Africa) is playing with us in our show on the Joy of Jazz fest. in Johannesburg.

He's been educated by an organisation called Taiwa Molelekwa Arts Foundation.

And We (Room Eleven) are invited to do a workshop there! Exciting!!

NEWS: Lowlands zingt!

Kom zaterdag 13:00 uur naar de Alpha tent, want dan gaan we daar mezzenallen lekker meebleren...met Lowlandsklassiekers. Ik sta op t podium met naar 't schijnt Roosbeef en nog wat enthousiastelingen. Haarske gezellig!

DIARY: aug 9th Zomer op 't Plein

Breaking news: First time of my life on stage with jeans on.... still can't believe it.

For me wearing dresses on stage is like that feather Dumbo (Elephant with big ears, you know the guy!) was holding when he wanted to fly.

By the way!! We had a great time in Alkmaar!!

NEWS: SOUTH AFRICCCOAA HERE WE COME

Hahaha... check this out! I'm on the front page of the Joy of Jazz festival in Johannesburg with two hot looking South African Jazz musicians and you can listen to a short interview with me (beware it's hard to understand what I say... I'm the mumbling kind). I'll play with Room Eleven in Johannesburg on the 28th and 29th of august!

And I'm really looking forward to it!! After that I'll be traveling with my travel buddies to see some wildlife, some wineries and some African starry skies!!

FOUND: Brontosaurus

Now I see this picture, I remember my personal prehistoric era.

The time when I was collecting bones for a glow-in-the-dark T-rex.

An awesome time. The skull came with the first issue of a dinosaur magazine for only FL. 1,50 so I begged my mom to subscribe to get all the bones... she did. Then the 15 other issues appeared to be FL 7,- per issue (sorry mom). And by the time I got the whole T-rex the skull was not as bright as the tail... nonetheless I wish I still had it!
